Rwanda gets an ultra-modern Stadium by 2024
For two months, the largest stadium in Rwanda has been undergoing renovation works, an activity that will allow the Amahoro stadium to double its capacity and increase from 25,000 seats to 45,000.
In the next two years, this stadium will be hosting various national and international sport events and other events as planned in the project.
On the grounds of the former Amahoro Stadium in Remera, renovation work continues.
Renovation works on the Amahoro National Stadium kicked-off on 31st August 2022 and the progress is currently at 8%, with the goal that by 2024 it will be completed and the stadium will begin to operate, which is why special measures to speed up the works have been put in place.
In addition to employing an average of 90% of local citizens, Amahoro stadium renovation project is an important market for local businesses, stone& sand quarry owners.
The Amahoro stadium will have a circumference of 800m and 30m of length and not including the roof, it will be 5 levels (G+5)
Engineer Harouna NSHIMIYIMANA, Project Manager said the Stadium will comply with all international standards.
“The playground is built in a new way. The Amahoro National Stadium will also have shops, restaurants and bars, which will allow it to function even in the absence of sports activities or other events.”
It will have a football and rugby pitches of international dimensions and an athletics track. The total project cost will be approximately 165$ million.
